Studies performed on energy storage systems

Project type:
Feasibility study

Company:
NS

Country:
Netherlands

Duration:
(no details available)

Project aims:
Assessment of potential for energy storage systems at NS Reizigers

Application area:
(no details available) vehicle(s)

Description:

The study examined the economic and technological feasibility of on-board and stationary energy storage systems in NS Reizigers DC network. The study showed a maximum theoretical saving potential of 6% of the total electricity consumption of the company.
However, the study came to the conclusion that stationary energy storage systems are technologically not feasible and on-board solutions have a bad cost-benefit ratio.
